Biography Studio

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 24 April 2026

These terms set out the agreement between you and Biography Studio when you purchase or use our service. Please read them carefully before placing an order.

  1. Who we are: Biography Studio is a Cornwall-based studio founded and run by Richard Abrahams. For legal and regulatory purposes, Biography Studio is a trading name of Richard Abrahams, sole trader, with a registered address at Corpascus, Mabe Burnthouse, Penryn, Cornwall, TR10 9JB, United Kingdom. In these terms “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Biography Studio, and “you” and “your” refer to the person placing the order or using the service. You can contact us at hello@biographystudio.com.
  2. The service: Biography Studio is a guided autobiography service. You answer a structured set of questions across one or more pathways (Reflections, Chronicle, Wisdom, or the Complete Edition). Your answers are reviewed and edited where you have chosen the editing option, formatted into a hardback book, and delivered to your nominated UK address. Full details of what each edition includes are set out on our Editions page and in the product description for each edition at the point of purchase.
  3. Placing an order: You place an order by selecting an edition, completing the checkout process, and making payment. Your order is an offer to purchase the service on these terms. We accept your order when we send you an order confirmation email, and at that point a contract is formed between you and us. If we are unable to accept your order, for example because of an error in pricing or product information, we will let you know and refund any payment you have made. You must be 18 or over to place an order.
  4. Price and payment: The price of each edition is shown on our website at the point of purchase. Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Payment is taken in full at the point of order through our payment provider. We may change our prices from time to time, and the price you pay is the price displayed at the point you place your order.
  5. Your project: Once your order is confirmed, we create a project in your account. You then work through the question framework at your own pace. There is no time limit, your project does not expire, and you can return to it whenever you wish. You can answer questions by typing or by using the built-in voice input tool, and you can upload one photograph per chapter and a cover photograph for the finished book.
  6. The editing option: When you submit a chapter, you choose whether your answers are edited. If you choose editing, your answers are processed through our editorial system, which removes filler words, fixes grammar and structure, and shapes your answers for the page while preserving your specific details, names, places, and personal voice. If you choose not to have your answers edited, they appear in your finished book exactly as you wrote or spoke them. The editing is included in the price of every edition and is not an add-on. You acknowledge that the quality of the edited output depends in significant part on the quality of the raw material you provide, and that the editing cannot add detail, warmth, or specificity that is not present in your answer.
  7. Review and approval: When all your chapters are submitted, you review your full work in the Story Review stage, where you can read through everything and make changes before approving the work for PDF generation. Your interior PDF is then generated and made available to you for proof approval, and you can request up to two further regenerations of the PDF (three in total) to make corrections. When you give final print approval, your cover PDF is generated and both files are sent to our print partner, after which no further changes can be made. You are responsible for reviewing your book before approving it for print, and we are not responsible for errors in content, spelling, dates, names, or other detail that you have approved.
  8. Production and delivery: Your book is printed and dispatched by our print partner. Free standard delivery to UK addresses is included in the price. Typical delivery is within 14 days of print approval, and delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed. We do not currently deliver outside the United Kingdom. The Complete Edition includes two printed copies of your finished book, and if your project extends beyond a single volume you receive one copy of each volume. Additional copies and overflow volumes are available to order from your project dashboard at the prices shown.
  9. Risk and ownership: Risk in the printed book passes to you on delivery, and ownership passes to you when we have received payment in full. You retain ownership of all the content you create within your project, including your answers, your photographs, and your text. We do not claim any rights in your content beyond what is necessary to provide the service to you, including printing, formatting, editing, hosting, and fulfilment. We will never use your content for marketing, training AI models, or any purpose beyond providing the service to you.
  10. Your right to cancel: If you have purchased an edition for yourself but not yet begun work on your project, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of purchase under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and we will refund you in full. By beginning work on your project, including writing or recording any answer, you confirm your express request for the service to begin during the cancellation period and you acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel once the service has started. Because each book is bespoke and printed to order, we cannot accept cancellations or returns once your book has been approved for print and gone into production. See our Refund and Returns Policy for full details, including damaged or defective items.
  11. Gift purchases: When you purchase an edition as a gift, you receive a voucher by email and forward it to your recipient at a time of your choosing. The recipient creates an account, redeems the voucher, and their project begins. The 14-day cancellation period for gift purchases runs from the date of purchase by the gift buyer. A gift voucher must be activated within 12 months from the date of purchase, after which it expires and no refund is due.
  12. Your responsibilities: You agree that the information you provide at checkout is accurate and complete, that you will keep your account password confidential, that the content you upload is your own work or you have permission to use it, that the content you upload does not infringe any third party’s rights, is not unlawful, and does not contain anything that would be unlawful to publish, and that the photographs you upload do not contain images of identifiable third parties without their consent. We reserve the right to refuse to print content that is unlawful, infringes third party rights, or that we reasonably believe to be defamatory, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate, and in such cases we will contact you to discuss alternatives; if we cannot reach a workable solution, we will refund you for the affected portion of your order.
  13. Intellectual property: The Biography Studio platform, the question framework, the website content, the brand, the logo, and all related materials are owned by us or our licensors, and you may not copy, reproduce, or distribute them without our written permission. You retain ownership of your own content as set out in section 9.
  14. Service availability and changes: We aim to keep the platform available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may need to perform maintenance or updates from time to time. We may change features of the platform, the question framework, or the editorial process from time to time, provided that any changes do not materially reduce the value of the service to you.
  15. Our liability: Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the price you paid for your edition. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data (other than loss caused by our negligence), or for losses arising from your use of the service in a way we did not contemplate. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
  16. Data and privacy: Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  17. Complaints: If something has gone wrong, please contact us at hello@biographystudio.com. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 3 working days and to resolve them within 30 days.
  18. General: You may not assign or transfer your rights under these terms without our written consent, although we may assign our rights and obligations to a successor business provided your rights are not adversely affected. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in force. If we do not enforce a right under these terms on one occasion, that does not mean we waive that right. No one other than you and us has any rights to enforce these terms. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
