Refund and Returns Policy

This policy sets out when you can cancel your order, when you are entitled to a refund, and what happens if your book arrives damaged or with a fault. It should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions.
- Your right to cancel before you start: If you have purchased a Biography Studio edition and have not yet begun work on your project, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of purchase under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To cancel, email us at hello@biographystudio.com from the email address registered to your account, and we will refund you in full to your original payment method within 14 days.
- Once you have started your project: By writing or recording any answer within your project, you confirm your express request for the service to begin during the cancellation period. You acknowledge that, once you have begun work, you lose the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations and no refund is due. This is because the service has been provided to you, including the question framework, the platform, and the editorial process, even though you have not yet received a printed book.
- Once your book has been printed: Each Biography Studio book is bespoke, made to your specifications, and printed to order. For this reason, we cannot accept cancellations or returns once your book has been approved by you for print and gone into production. This does not affect your rights if your book arrives damaged or defective, as set out in section 5.
- Gift purchases: If you have purchased an edition as a gift and the recipient has not yet redeemed the voucher, you can cancel within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. Once the voucher has been redeemed and the recipient has begun work on the project, the cancellation rules set out in section 2 apply. A gift voucher must be activated within 12 months from the date of purchase, after which it expires and no refund is due.
- Damaged or defective books: If your book arrives damaged, or if there is a manufacturing defect such as a printing error, a binding fault, or missing pages, we will replace it at no cost to you. To report a damaged or defective book, email us at hello@biographystudio.com within 14 days of delivery, including your order number, a description of the issue, and photographs of the damage or defect, and we will arrange for a replacement to be printed and dispatched. This does not cover errors in content, including spelling, names, dates, or other detail, that you approved at the proof stage; you are responsible for reviewing your book before approving it for print.
- Lost in transit: If your book has not arrived within 21 days of dispatch, contact us at hello@biographystudio.com. We will investigate with our delivery partner and, if the book has been lost in transit, arrange for a replacement to be printed and dispatched at no cost to you.
- How refunds are paid: Where a refund is due, we will refund you to your original payment method within 14 days of confirming your refund. We do not offer credit notes or store credit in place of a refund.
- Statutory rights: Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. You can find information about your statutory rights at citizensadvice.org.uk.
- Complaints: If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a refund or return, contact us at hello@biographystudio.com. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 3 working days and to resolve them within 30 days.
